Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose:

  • Responsible for developing and communicating demand requirements for contract manufacturers, and for authorizing them to execute a build plan in support of Corning's requirements
  • Develop capacity plans and manage inventory & purchasing strategies to ensure optimum material utilization
  • Assist in managing the Sales and Operating Plan (S&OP) process

 

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support S&OP process by analyzing demand, supply, capacity and inventory data to make capacity recommendations and identify risks and gaps
  • Monitor contract manufacturing production and support capacity analysis of contract manufacturer
  • Communicate effectively with contract manufacturers to establish production and delivery requirements
  • Coordinate schedules with customer service, suppliers, receiving, contract manufacturing, and shipping to ensure customer’s requirements are met
  • Provide lead time quotations for new orders and make sales order commitments; provide response for past due shipments
  • Review and manage CM commitments and order promise dates; conduct periodic review meetings with CM to review open order status
  • Assist in developing and executing inventory strategies for modules and finished goods; analyze excess and obsolete component inventory provided by CM
  • Responsible for prioritizing RMA rework and managing RMA inventory, including identifying at-risk shippable stock for containment
  • Support strategic sourcing and contract administration, NDA administration and execution, and NPC reporting
  • Requisition product and place firm orders on CM and 3rd party vendors
  • Purchase MRO items
  • Maintain SOX compliance for inventory management and planning
  • Comply with international trade regulations, as directed by GSM

 

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical, Business or Supply Chain)
  • Minimum 2 years in manufacturing or product line management/forecasting
  • Experience in analytical role
  • Competent with IT tools
  • Prior experience with scheduling and planning in plant or division
  • Experience with procurement processes and systems
  • High degree of initiative and motivation with ability to work in a matrix environment or on a cross-functional team
