Scope of Position:

In this role, you will provide technical engineering support to the chemical processes. Role will focus on project management, process development, process control and discipline implementation, and troubleshooting of production processes. We look for you to develop and integrate new technologies to the manufacturing environment. You will support the daily response to operational upsets and champion long-term solutions and systems improvements to enhance the safety, quality, productivity, and reliability of manufacturing systems. You will lead capital and non-capital projects from concept through implementation including setting project scope and resource needs, establishing process and equipment specifications, completing FATs and DOEs, and writing and executing validation protocols. Actively support, improve, and ensure compliance to the site business and quality management systems through documentation preparation, process auditing, and completion of corrective actions in response to customer complaints and audit findings. This position works closely with operations management, functional leaders, engineers, and external partners to establish work priorities and work assignments across the various functional groups.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Process development on new products as they move into production: successful completion of validation process.
  • Process troubleshooting on existing products.
  • Provide production departments with technical support to make continuous and step change improvements.
  • Use statistical methods for product and process analysis.
  • Continuous improvements relative to HPWS pyramid sections for Process Discipline and Control.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction programs.
  • Project leader for process improvement initiatives.
  • Establish project goals and objectives.
  • Project spending.
  • Technical strategy implementation.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal travel time required <5%.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Full time position, normal business hours 8:00 AM -5:00 PM, M-F, work week could exceed 40 hours.
  • Expected to work hours required to meet manufacturing requirements or off hour support if necessary.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Biochemistry or related degree program.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  •  Minimum 3+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

 

Required Skills:

  • Project leadership skills.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of chemical processes.
  • Ability to take routine data retrieval and analysis and develop a standard methodology.
  • Able to handle multiple complex tasks and set priorities with multiple internal customers.
  • Strong working knowledge of statistical software packages; Minitab/JMP.

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Prefer proficiency in Solidworks.
  • Cleanroom experience.
  • Six Sigma trained.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work on a diverse engineering team.
  • Ability to effectively deal with high levels of uncertainty, ambiguity, and change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter who is able to meet expectations for their objectives and timelines with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making processes and skills and tenacious troubleshooting skills with technical curiosity.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, customer focused, with a high commitment level.
  • The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly.
