Scope of Position

In this role you will:

  • Apply engineering knowledge to support the development and improvement of process and automated assembly equipment within the manufacturing plant.
  • Support the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technology or improvements in existing technology resulting in a superior product in terms of quality and/or cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Technology and Engineering teams in electrical design and  programming changes.
    • Troubleshoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause, and implements corrective actions.
    • Support the integration of new Controls devices such as HMIs and Vision systems.
    • Implements and documents material, process and/or equipment changes.
  • Experiment Planning
    • Support the creation of Experimentation Plans (Hypothesis test, DOEs).
    • Collect data and perform detailed statistical analysis (Descriptive statistics, process capability, linear regression analysis).
    • Lead and execute experimentation plans.
    • Write technical reports for completed experiments.
  • Support on the development and execution of equipment Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Support on monitoring line variables through Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training.

Education and Experiemce

  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical, Automation, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering program with a graduation date December 2025 or later.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer (May-August)
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location.
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite); Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment (strong team player); Ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • High initiative, able to work independently, and in a team environment with high levels of uncertainty and change.
  • Flexibility - Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Project Management Software (MS Project)
  • CAD Software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • PLC/HMI/SCADA programming
  • Electrical controls systems

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
