Purpose of Position: The Engineering Technician – Safety Programs Support is responsible for providing technical assistance in the documentation, auditing, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the facility’s safety programs, with a particular focus, but not limited to, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine safety, and electrical safety. This role supports plant engineering and EHS teams by helping to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Corning Global Safety Standards through documentation, training, and on-the-floor technical support.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of Lockout/Tagout procedures and machine-specific energy control documentation.
- Conduct manufacturing floor verifications/audits to support safe work practices and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Provide technical input on machine safeguarding measures and electrical safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify safety risks and support corrective actions.
- Update and maintain safety-related documents including procedures, forms, training records, and compliance logs.
- Support and sometimes lead safety-related training sessions and hands-on demonstrations for technicians, operators, and maintenance personnel.
- Assist in audits, inspections, and incident investigations related to machine safety and energy control procedures.
- Track program metrics and contribute to reports for management reviews and compliance evaluations.
- Stay up to date with OSHA, NFPA, and other relevant safety regulations and standards.
Education/Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably with exposure to maintenance, machine and electrical safety.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, and LOTO best practices.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical writing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for delivering training and working cross-functionally.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
Preferred Qualification:
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Safety, or related field (or equivalent experience).

The range for this position is $29.75 hourly rate - $34.37 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
