The purpose of this position is:

  • This position is responsible for the functional, in-lab testing of products produced or purchased by the Kennebunk plant.
  • This testing assures that the products meet the minimum quality requirements prior to release for sale.
  • As new products are introduced, this position will adapt validation tests as quality control tests and verify that newly validated products meet the minimum quality requirements.
  • This position also tests products returned as a result of a customer complaint for functional compliance.
  • This position must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be able to follow written instructions.


This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Performs functional quality control analysis of existing and future Bioassay, Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, and Storage products and provides test results to the QA Department.
  • Troubleshoots production problems associated with Bioassay, Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, and Storage products using established and innovative testing techniques.
  • Maintains all cell lines needed for functional analysis of products.
  • Assists in the validation of new Bioassay, Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, and Storage products/processes and develops new and appropriate test methods for evaluating these new products and/or processes per request from the supervisor.
  • Assists in the functional analysis of products manufactured under an SMR (Special Manufacturing Request), and/or received through the Customer Response System (CMS).
  • Assists in the functional analysis of new products as outlined in the Quality Plans.
  • Keep precise and timely records of experimental procedures and data in Designated Lab Notebooks.
  • Maintains quality lab records according to procedure.
  • Keeps track of laboratory supplies and chemicals and stores them properly upon receipt.
  • Assists in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Follows all laboratory and plant safety rules and guidelines.
  • Creates and/or updates laboratory procedures, as appropriate, using established Change Order System for document control.
  • Establishes cooperation with plant personnel in order to carry out special manufacturing and/or testing needs.


Working Conditions:

  • Somewhat disagreeable working conditions, due to presence of chemicals and fumes.



  • High school Diploma or GED required.



  • 1 - 3 years experience required to attain quality and quantity performance standards under normal supervision.
