Scope of Position:

Quality Assurance Supervisor Role Purpose supervises, coordinates, and coaches employees responsible for customer complaints/issues, Quality Systems, Document Control, Incoming Quality Assurance, In-Process Inspection, and Product Release. Provides Quality Assurance support to the Complaint Management System and IQA, including supplier management and disposition of incoming materials. Responsible for Quality System Activities that include adherence to ISO and FDA standards, project validations, and document control. Responsible for the inspection of WIP and finished good products, release of product, and quality record management. Works within department and other functional groups on resolution of quality issues in a timely fashion.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the daily activities of the Quality Systems Administrator, Document Control/ESP Administrator, IQA inspector(s), In-Process Inspectors, contingent workers, etc. This includes supervising the work for these individuals, prioritizing work, providing formal and informal performance feedback and providing technical expertise when required.
  • Encompasses the application of scientific and technological principles concerned with the integrity of manufactured products and processes from an engineering standpoint, design specifications, testing procedures, and minimum quality standards.
  • Collects and investigates customer complaint data to identify and address possible trends.
  • Attends and participates in complaint reviews to review customer complaint information for trends and recommend improvements.
  • Responsible for external customer contacts.
  • Interfaces with Sales and Marketing relating to customer complaints, issues and questions. Completes customer questionnaires and handles customer visits/audits.
  • Interfaces with Scientific Support relating to customer questions.
  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Reviews and recommends improvements to sampling and inspection plans.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and resolve responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications
  • Support Supplier Quality Management program.
  • Participates in the process of establishing plant metrics and targets.
  • Develops positive working relationships using effective interpersonal skills and networking within the plant across departments.
  • Maintain and implement all safety regulations and housekeeping standards on a consistent basis.
  • Initiate and/or suggest opportunities to develop employees team skills.
  • Interpret and enforce Plant and company policies and procedures on a consistent basis.
  • Coordinates and participates in customer audits and customer visits.
  • Maintain the systems and actions necessary to ensure compliance with the Kennebunk quality system and ISO registration.
  • Ensure cooperation with Engineering in the implementation and evaluation of new processes or equipment.
  • Disposition of Incoming Non-Conforming Materials, WIP, and Finished Goods.
  • Participates in Management Review
  • Employee hiring, development and performance management
  • Assist employees in setting daily production priorities.
  • Evaluate team and individual performance and delegate responsibility, authority, and accountability accordingly.
  • Evaluate temporary deviation requests and product / process changes.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Coordinate/host customer audits as a technical/quality representative where required.
  • Participates in New Product/Process projects as well as internal improvements.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10%

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours.
  • Some flexibility may be needed for training and other laboratory activities.

 

Required Education:

  • 4-year degree the field of science including microbiology, chemistry, biology or related science fields

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • 3 years quality assurance experience
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, FDA QSR part 820 and/or all required ANSI / AAMI / ISO or USP standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience with investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Able to work well both independently and in a group setting
  • Ability to lead small teams

  • Track record of delivering results
  • Understanding of Manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated experience leading team
