Role Purpose
This intern role is to provide mechanical engineering experience to college students with a strong desire to learn. The role will focus on experience in an innovative manufacturing environment, mechanical/process engineering and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Work and learn as part of the Projects Engineering Department.
- You will work on individual and team projects which can range from new equipment implementation to process improvements and development, validations, experimentation and problem analysis.
- Problem solving on existing processes.
- Obtain knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes.
- Use statistical methods for product and process analysis.

Experiences/Education - Required
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year engineering degree program in good academic standing as a pending Sophomore, Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program in a Mechanical Engineering major.
- At least one semester of core engineering course work completed.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27th – July 31st, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
- Be willing to work at the posted job location: Kennebunk, ME
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing systems and experience with data analysis (i.e. Microsoft Excel, SPC rules).
- Knowledge of CAD programs (SolidWorks preferred).
- Ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft applications.
- Technical writing with the ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers, and managers.
- Process engineering skills (coursework in process engineering, statistics, or other statistical training).

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
