Role Purpose
The Metrology Technician play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of inspection, measuring, and test equipment used in the development and manufacturing processes. This position involves calibrating, validating, maintaining, and optimizing metrology systems while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to support cross-functional teams including quality, engineering, and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibration and Maintenance: Perform calibrations and routine maintenance of inspection, measurement, and test equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance.
- Validation and Quality Assurance: Conduct Measurement System Analyses (MSAs), Capability Studies (CPKs), and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies to validate measurement systems and methods.
- Measurement Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain measurement programs for vision systems and other metrology equipment used in product evaluation.
- Fixture Design: Design and implement fixtures to improve measurement accuracy and repeatability.
- Statistical Process Control (SPC): Train teams on SPC techniques, analyze statistical data, and adjust measurement frequencies based on results to maintain process stability.
- Process Improvement: Analyze measurement and process data to identify and implement improvements to methods, equipment, and overall effectiveness.
- Documentation and SOPs: Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for calibration, measurement, and testing activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provide technical expertise and training to quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to support production and continuous improvement efforts.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve metrology equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent measurement accuracy.
- Ensure timely completion of calibrations.
- Successfully perform and document MSAs and CPKs.
- Maintain and improve SPC data for part numbers.
- Implement process improvements that enhance measurement reliability and efficiency.
Experiences/Education - Required
- 3+ years of experience in metrology, quality systems, or related areas.
- Hands-on experience with calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of metrology equipment.
- Proficiency with measurement equipment such as optical systems, Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs, OGP preferred), environmental measurement tools, and mechanical measuring devices.
- Knowledge of measurement techniques, statistical data analysis, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to use tools such as Excel, Minitab, or similar software for data analysis.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Familiarity with quality system regulations and requirements.
Experiences/Education - Desired
Preferred Skills:
Experience with vision system programming and fixture development.
Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of ISO/IEC standards and compliance requirements.

The range for this position is $70,719.00 - $97,239.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
