As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.
Position Purpose:
- Sets up and operates a wide range of machining equipment to fabricate complex objects, fixtures, jigs, etc. as needed.
- Assists in troubleshooting and repairing all molds in the plant.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 10 years mold making experience building and troubleshooting molds.
Desired Skills and Position Duties:
- Knowledge of Hot Runner Systems and ability to repair.
- General knowledge of Injection molding principles.
- Experience with CNC lathe and milling center.
- Hand polishing mold components to A1 finish
- Surface grinding
- Experience in a team environment.
- Ability to dismantle tools checking for abnormalities and repairing when required.
- Some knowledge of coatings and welding differences for repairs.
- Some knowledge of programming CNC equipment.
- Assist in maintaining all production molds in a state of readiness.
- Ability to understand blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the method of fabrication.
- Suggest mold modifications for improvements based on experience/history.
- Ability to oversee and train others in the area for best practices.
- Must have the capability of working on several jobs simultaneously.
- Keeps work areas neat and orderly, observing all Corning safety procedure

The range for this position is $31.50 hourly rate - $37.25 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
