What Is the Purpose of The Program?

  • Develop a talent pipeline for engineering technicians and engineers for the plant.

What will the day to day routine look like?

  • Work as a maintenance technician to keep production equipment running and develop a strong understanding in manufacturing practices and processes.
  • Seek out/identify opportunities to improve Operation Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through performance improvements, scrap reduction, and elimination of conditions and event that cause down time.
  • Assist in developing and implement creative responses to opportunities to improve equipment.
  • Help to improve the safety of equipment.
  • Work with engineering team to document, and update documentation for production lines.
  • Other duties as appropriate.

    • Curious, with a need to understand industrial automation/production systems.

    • 18 years old, minimum.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience using power tools.
  • Ability to think logically, diagnose problems, and suggest creative solutions.

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current enrollment at SMCC in related field (pre-eng, electrical eng technology, precision manufacturing, automotive, etc.)
  • Intent to graduate with degree.
  • Commitment to continue enrollment while working.
