As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.

 

Purpose of Position: Perform all material handling duties in the department including moving all materials, ordering materials, relieving operators, disposal of trash and scrap, and tracking production.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Complete transactions in PeopleSoft, label making, various software programs (production databases), line openings and defect reporting programs on the computer.
  • Write up rejects in AIMS
  • Scan finished and WIP products, order materials and make returns to the warehouse.
  • Follow proper procedures for production reporting.
  • Move materials using pallet jacks, electric powered pallet jacks, tote dollies and push carts.
  • Place and retrieve skids.
  • Wrap skids with film to ensure skid integrity.
  • Follow established operating procedures for managing WIP and finished goods.
  • Save product samples for traceability.
  • Supply operators with any items needed throughout the shift (practice FIFO).
  • When needed empty trash cans throughout the department, collect and dispose of all corrugated using outside corrugated compactor, empty dumpsters into outside trash compactor.
  • Follow good housekeeping procedures.
  • Perform operator functions in a backfill capacity.
  • Report to supervisor any defective materials or unsafe conditions that occur.
  • Use good communication and team skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

The range for this position is ​$25.00 hourly rate - $28.63 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
