Scope of Position: Project manage, and provide technical expertise in the design, construction, and process debug of assembly automation and related manufacturing equipment, supporting Kennebunk manufacturing and product development for the Life Sciences businesses.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

*Designs, builds and specifies prototype and production assembly machines and related equipment for manufacturing, this may include but is not limited to: Construction of machine frames, fixtures, jigs and pick and place stations.

*Diagrams logic systems for functions such as sequence and timing of devices.

*Work with vendors on automation designs to meet equipment specifications, to determine feasibility, project scope, costs, and timelines.

*Lead and participate in equipment design reviews, document changes and follow-up with vendors.

*Communicate progress through all levels of the organization.

*Conduct new equipment acceptance trials at vendors.

*Direct the installation and training of new assembly equipment into manufacturing.

*Write appropriation requests as required.

*Manage assigned project capital spending.

*Resolves for Manufacturing, through observation, evaluation and analysis, technical issues related to product or equipment designs, associated with existing production automation>

*Work with Manufacturing and Product Development groups on evaluating and implementing capacity, cost reduction and new opportunities.

 

Travel Requirements: Negligible

 

Hours of Work: 40+ hours per week, standard business hours Monday-Friday with weekend coverage as required by the 25/7 manufacturing operation

 

Required Education: BS Mechanical Engineering or BS Electrical Engineering

 

Required Experience: 8+ years

*Equipment Design and Specification

*Controls expertise (PLC programming, servos, steppers, DC drives, pneumatic controls)

*Project Management and Equipment Vendor Management *CAD (Solidworks strongly preferred)

*Experience working in a high volume manufacturing operation
