Scope of Position:

Reporting to the Managing Director, Direct Categories, within the Global Supply Management organization, this role will lead the strategic sourcing and procurement activities for the Resins category globally, lead and support selected global initiatives, as well as manage the related global portfolio activities. A strong emphasis is placed on “doing things differently”, with innovative ideas and use of digital supply chain technology are to compliment the more traditional ways of purchasing, including the area of opportunistic buy/sell. The role will develop and drive procurement strategies around various resin subcategories and specific requirements, maintaining focus on opportunities to rationalize supply base while delivering best in class sourcing to stakeholder businesses by centralizing the strategic sourcing element of this activity, and leveraging digital supply chain tools and principles. The successful incumbent will have extensive supply chain management and cost reductions solutions, and overall category management in the direct materials space, as well as high degree of business acumen, able to leverage opportunity with risk mitigation, while remaining longsighted and patient, working autonomously and within a global team. The role will work closely with a wide internal customer base as well as other functional Corporate Centres of Excellence in order to identify business and operational priorities and ensure alignment with business’ functional strategies. In many cases these activities will be performed as part of a cross-functional team but the incumbent is expected to lead the process and be responsible for implementing solutions. This position is located in Luzern, Switzerland and hosted by the Global Supply Chain Management Services Company located at Corning Switzerland GmbH., an entity of American parented Corning Incorporated. Business language with Corporate is English.   • Provide comprehensive management for the RESINS category, in support of business units (BU) requirements, to include:
  • Manage a team of regional Strategic Sourcing Managers to meet/exceed stakeholder shared and cost-saving objectives and service level agreements;
  • Identify, lead, communicate, and implement cost reduction initiatives across multiple stakeholder businesses and operating units;
  • Develop Strategic Sourcing plans, aligned to stakeholder objectives, fulfilling current and future demand forecasts with consideration to geopolitical, economic and market trends & conditions impacting Resins supply chain;
  • Collaborate with Business Supply Managers and Global Strategic Sourcing Managers on key initiatives;
  • Administer the Resins Category Councils and implement Global Strategy;
  • Engage with well-established Resins production/distribution networks, leverage to ensure supply assurance;
  • Own the Supplier Relationship Management of top-tiered and global suppliers, including risk management, fostering sustainable strategic relations;
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of negotiation strategies, to yield best-in-class value.
  • Develop and communicate relevant supply intelligence for the various Resins sub-categories. (i.e.: market intelligence, should-cost modelling, leading-cost sourcing options, consortiums, etc.)
  • Communicate with, and report to, stakeholder leadership;
  • Identify key stakeholders within the value-chain, including strategic consortium partners, and develop leveraged spend opportunities;
  • Communicate positively and constructively with colleagues locally and globally;
  • Champion and advocate CORNING’s Global Buying Policy; ensure regulatory compliance and regional legislation;

  • Ability to establish positive sustainable relationships with suppliers and internal customers;

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • >10yrs experience in direct materials’ procurement & value chain optimization;
  • Supplier management, high-level negotiations, contracting;
  • Proven track record in cost reduction development & implementation;

Required Education:

  • Minimum BSc in the area of Supply chain optimization, cost reductions, technical (resins conversion)
