Scope of Position:
We are looking for a driven, knowledgeable, professional to join the Business Operations team. As Business Support Specialist, Custom Media, you will be responsible for ensuring customers are well managed as you interact with individuals in all areas of Corning including Sales, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Supply Chain and Product Management. The Business Support Specialist tracks key orders, follows up through the manufacturing process, and elevates when needed to ensure on time delivery meeting our commitments. A successful candidate will understand the custom media sales process from initial customer contact through successful manufacture of the product. The Business Support Specialist, in collaboration with the Product Line Manager, will be the champion of unique customer needs to make sure those are being met by our manufacturing capabilities. We look for you to have or build a strong understanding of the manufacturing, customer service, and supply chain process. Knowledge of PeopleSoft, SAP, Salesforce, and Power BI are required.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly with Product Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Forecasting Departments
- Regular tracking of product line performance according to key metrics
- Assist in the development of sales tools and training programs for the CLS sales organization
- Track and direct key customer orders throughout the manufacturing process
- Monitor out-of-stock situations and order status and communicate corrective actions with manufacturing and the business team
- Support PLM in demand planning process with key customer input
- Work closely with customer service to assess prioritization and manage key orders
- Work closely with distribution centers as well as channel team for product shipments
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 5-10%, domestic travel
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
- Standard business hours; Monday – Friday.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, customer service, Life Science, or related degree
Required Years and Area of Experience:
Minimum of 1+ year in customer service or operations
Required Skills:
- Data, customer service, supply chain, or analytical background.
- Microsoft Excel or other database experience
- Willingness/ability to learn new systems (SAP, PowerBI, Salesforce.com, or other)
- Strong attention to detail and follow through
- Good communication skills both internally and with customers
Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:
- Product development experience, especially with launching new products
- Experience or knowledge of the Life Science market, products, technology, and/or customers.
Soft Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Organized and with an ability to handle and prioritize different activities
Good team skills and able to work in a dynamic multi-functional environment
Ability to translate information between departments to and from the customer
Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and make decisions with minimal information
