The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.


  • Increasing demand for IT operational enhancements and automation from within the CLS and CPT Corning Businesses is driving a need to further mature IT capability in these areas. CLS and CPT have expressed a strong interest in further extending their capabilities to better address their manufacturing and operational needs. It will be important for Corning to develop a plan to develop our current capabilities to further align with the business strategy.
  • To meet this demand, it is critical that the CLS and CPT Global Operational team minimizes risk, prepares for future growth, and positions itself strategically by maintaining the core team. The expertise required to design and lead deployments for these types of solutions should reside in our employees, and not within variable resources.


  • Interact with internal/external customers to gather requirements from a business and systems perspective by interpreting business needs and translating them into technical requirements.
  • Apply manufacturing system development experience across a broad spectrum of technical applications including manufacturing execution systems (MES), data acquisition and system integration.
  • Producing high quality software and related software development artifacts.
  • Performing or leading software system design, development and integration activities.
  • Conducting practical debugging and troubleshooting in complex applications and systems.
  • Following best practices, processes, and using architectural tools to develop a large variety of software solutions.
  • Documenting and performing thorough unit and functional testing of code, seeking reviews to ensure high quality bug free code.
  • Capture and documenting designs and system knowledge.
  • Demonstrating a strong work ethic, a “can do” attitude and being highly productive.
  • Learning new technologies and developing tools to remain abreast of current technology, while leveraging your skills in legacy technologies to support existing platform development activities.
  • Taking on what’s needed to help the team and the company meet objectives.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: BS in Computer Science /Systems Management/IT Related field

WORK EXPERIENCE:  3+ years of experience using programming languages


  • Strong software programming background and interest
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Experience in programming higher level language(s): .Net (C#, VB), C++ or Java
  • Knowledge and hands on experience working with large data in multiple formats such as XML, CSV, flat files and databases
