As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.
The purpose of this position is: Performs operations to produce media products using advanced skills and knowledge of manufacturing process. Qualified in all aspects of their designated processes and serves as a technical expert. May coordinate and assign work within shift or area of responsibility.
This position includes significant duties such as:
- Qualified in all operator duties for designated processes in area of responsibility
- Fills and packages rigid and flexible sterile products following defined SOPs
- Performs aseptic processing inside cleanroom to to ensure sterility of product and packaging
- Weighs, stages and packages chemicals for use in making powders or liquid products
- Documents all activities within batch record using current good documentation (cGMP) standards
- Prepares sterile products for commercial distribution
- Performs troubleshooting and analysis as required; recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
- May perform basic and intermediate PeopleSoft functions
- Serves as the SMR during Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance
- May create or revise quality documents as necessary
- May help drive continuous improvement efforts (iKaizen, Safety, Lean, etc.)
- Provides support as necessary and in the absence of the shift leader or supervisor
- May provide daily guidance to designated shift and process, working with leads to resolve production concerns
- Assures compliance of designated operations through observation, including supporting the enforcement of plant environmental and safety regulations
- Helps coordinate interdepartmental activities with shift leaders to ensure site goals are achieved
- Assisting supervisor, may implement or monitor training and certification plans for area personnel
- Monitors inventory of all critical process materials, generates purchase requisition, and submits to the supervisor for signature, as required
Working Conditions:
- Works in a manufacturing environment, where regularly exposed to automated equipment lines and the noise and/or vibration resulting from them.
- Requires use of PPE.
- Frequently lifts or moves up to 50 lbs.
- May frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and chemicals.
- May occasionally require use of respirator or mask.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1+ years experience for advanced operations and up to 3 years to provide general direction to others

The range for this position is $26.00 hourly rate - $29.88 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
