As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.
The purpose of this position is: Performs operations to produce media products such as sterile cell culture media, salt solutions, reagents, buffers, antibiotics, therapeutics, and other sterile and non-sterile solutions. Performs aseptic operations, including filling; formulates liquids or prepares powders.
This position includes significant duties such as:
- Performs aseptic operation inside and outside of clean room environment
- Performs clean room sterile operations; washes and sterilizes following SOPs
- Sterilizes production items by using the Autoclaves and Dry Heat Ovens
- Assists with the changeover of all manufacturing equipment as specified
- Assists with Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) validations as needed
- Performs Clean In Place (CIP) and Steam In Place (SIP) operations for all necessary process equipment
- Rotates to various pre and post filling positions (prepping materials, packing, labeling, rework, bagging, etc.) as production needs are required
- Stocks all gowning materials for production
- Formulates liquid products following cGMP and Standard Operating Procedures
- Performs activities to support the production of powder and liquid products through weighing, milling, packaging and labeling of chemical components
- Performs torque and fill checks as specified for bottle runs
- Maintains cleanliness and housekeeping for all manufacturing areas
- Attains qualification in one or more designated process and operation per current Training Matrix
- Documents all activities within batch record using current good documentation (cGMP) standards
- Assists as necessary to train new employees on manufacturing operations and tasks
- Performs basic PeopleSoft functions as required
- Contributes to continuous improvement efforts (iKaizen, Safety, Lean, etc.)
Working Conditions:
- Works in a manufacturing environment, where regularly exposed to automated equipment lines and the noise and/or vibration resulting from them.
- Requires use of PPE.
- Frequently lifts or moves up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and chemicals.
- May occasionally require use of respirator or mask.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3 - 12 months’ experience

The range for this position is $22.88 hourly rate - $25.74 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
