Role Purpose
Mediatech Inc., a subsidiary of Corning, is seeking an Engineering Intern – Process to join our Engineering team at our cell culture media manufacturing site in Manassas, VA. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with process improvement, problem-solving, and engineering principles in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
As an intern, you will engage in both individual and collaborative projects that may include exploring new materials and chemical processes, conducting validations and experiments, performing problem analysis, creating equipment drawings, validating new equipment, and contributing to new product development. You will apply engineering knowledge to drive improvements in product quality, process efficiency, and equipment performance, while also reducing costs and enhancing material utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in resolving short-term process issues and engage in higher-level troubleshooting to ensure timely solutions.
- Provide regular updates on project costs and schedules.
- Leverage engineering and manufacturing knowledge to identify root causes of problems and implement permanent solutions.
- Recommend and implement long-term solutions to improve process performance and existing technologies.
- Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Safety, and Health requirements.
- Develop knowledge in materials, processes, and equipment within specific areas of manufacturing or engineering.
- Design and execute experiments to optimize process settings and enhance performance.

Experiences/Education - Required
- Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Materials, or Chemistry.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Experiences/Education - Desired
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented
- High skill level with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines
- Self-motivated; takes initiative
- Ability to work in a team environment

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
