Scope of Position:

In this role, you will be reporting to the Senior Product Line Manager, Media, the Product Line Manager, Media has global commercial responsibility for Corning’s Catalog Media product portfolio. The position requires interaction with individuals in all areas of Corning including Sales, Technical Support, Order Service, Forecasting, Inventory Control, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and R&D to assure that customers’ needs are met. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the sales process from initial customer contact through successful use of Corning products in the different workflows that require Media & Serum. The Product Line Manager in collaboration with the Senior Product Line Manager will be the champion of new product development working with customers, technical service, the sales team, R&D and Applications Development to identify new applications and product ideas and then working through Corning’s Innovation Process to commercialize these new product opportunities.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Cross-functional communication with internal manufacturing, quality, customer service and supply chain teams to facilitate rapid support of customer issues
  • Maintain effective, regular communications with global sales and marketing groups
  • Responsible for forecasting, financial performance tracking and business modeling.
  • Monitor out-of-stock situations and communicate corrective actions with manufacturing and the business team
  • Pricing management and approvals
  • Analyze sales and customer data to enable the sales team to protect current business and drive growth.
  • Develop marketing content/collateral and sales tools and training programs for the CLS sales organization and channel partners
  • Develop and maintain key customer relationships
  • Work with key dealers to develop marketing programs and gain support for growing sales
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive products, market perception, and market direction
  • Identify new opportunities to gain a more favorable position in the market, improve profitability, or increase market share of existing products and technology through new applications
  • In conjunction with the Business Director and Senior Product Line Manager, develop appropriate business plans and overall business strategy – supported by financial, manufacturing, channel, etc. data and analysis

 

Travel Requirements:

  • 10-20% domestic travel.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday- Friday, standard business hours.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline is required.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum of 4+ years’ experience including product management, marketing, and/or sales in Life Science Industry

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to lead cross functionally in a matrix organization.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing tools and techniques.
  • Strong business opportunity assessment and financial analysis skills.
  • Understanding of product development process.
  • Strong software skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and Salesforce.com

 

Desired Skills:

  • Masters level degree in Life Sciences or Business is desired.
  • Life Sciences / cell biology sales and marketing experience.
  • Hands on cell culture/cell biology experience desired
  • Product development experience with launching new products

 

Soft Skills:

  • You will need strong negotiation skills and creativity.
  • Good team skills, able to work in dynamic environment and get along with others.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and shown ability to present to customers in the field.
