Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Functions as a technical resource and serves as the owner for Released Products and Standard Processes across Value Streams, ensuring product integrity, reliability, and Change Control of released OCS products within assigned product lines. This role is responsible for leading product teams to address performance issues, resolve customer-related concerns, and implement cost reductions while maintaining the Fit, Form, and Function of the products. Additionally, it involves participating in project execution between development and plant manufacturing as an impartial third party with expertise to balance risks between business demands and product assurance. The position provides subject matter expertise in engineering to enhance product performance in terms of cost, quality, and service. It also includes designing and analyzing first-generation or next-generation products while supporting new product or technology introductions. Furthermore, it requires staying updated on the latest developments within their area of expertise to identify and document any intellectual property developed during projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Clarify, understand and document Product Specifications, and understand product applications
- Leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in products, and in the usage of tools like DOE, SPC, SQC, OEE, Designed Experiments, and other Performance Excellence processes (Green and Black-belt skills)
- Ensure FIT, FORM, FUNCTION through appropriate qualification test plans, design control and change approval while balancing speed to market and profitability for approval /reject on proposed changes on released products
- Timely and effectively respond to customer and commercial requests for Product changes
- Provides leadership in problem solving, and technical expertise, to ensure timely resolution of short-term process and equipment issues, and higher-level troubleshooting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical area/Mechanical, Electromechanical or Engineering degree
- 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, development, product, or process engineering
- Parametric software basic knowledge (SOLID, ProE or similar)
- Ability to handle changing priorities
- Interpersonal skills and able to build relationships and participate in diverse teams

The range for this position is $94,106.00 - $129,396.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
