Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to be a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Job purpose

The Software Sales Engineer is responsible for providing support to strategic customer accounts, supporting the sales team in building proposals, and presenting technical product demonstration to prospected clients, providing technical training (web based or live) to clients, capturing customer requirements, leading special in-building design work presented to clients, acting as the liaison the Sales, Marketing, Product, and R&D teams.

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will develop and provide technical presentations to customers.
  • You will perform interactive technical product demonstrations and detailed training (on-site or web-based as needed).
  • Must have the ability to clearly demonstrate technical functionalities and answer product related questions.
  • You will provide technical support to the Sales, Marketing, Training, Product, and R&D teams.
  • Provide pre- and post-sales support including the development of solution proposals and solution deployment.
  • Provide RFP technical response support.
  • Will manage problem documentation / problem re-creation and issue escalation / problem resolution.
  • Participate in RF Engineering related activities (product testing, special projects, new features).
  • Understand and document customers request for features.
  • Act as single point of contact for strategic customer accounts.

 

Location

  • This is a remote position which allows you to work from your home office which will be based in the Western part of the US (West of Mississippi).

 

Travel

  • You will need to be able to travel up 75% which will primarily be domestic travel centered mostly around client meetings but will also include tradeshows and conferences. Most of travel will be Monday – Friday with occasional weekend travel as necessary.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience using iBwave’s Design software suite is a must (at least Level 2).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • RF engineering experience (In-building design / DAS, RAN design, Wi-Fi).
  • In-depth experience in designing, deploying and optimizing wireless in-building networks (passive, active distribution, Wi-Fi, FTTx).
  • Experience in deployment of in-building systems such as Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
  • Understand differentiators between LTE, WCDMA, CDMA, GSM, Wi-Fi and other protocols (including 5G NR).
  • Understand radio wave propagation theory.
  • Ability to travel a is must (up to 75%).

 

Preferred Requirements

  • CWNA or other CWNP Wi-Fi Certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of FTTx/MDU design and deployment a plus.
  • Experience working for operator organization, OEM or System Integrator involved with in-building would be an asset.

 

Soft Skills

  • Self-motivated, self-starter and ability to work autonomously or within a diverse team.
  • Ability to uncover customer pains and clearly communicate solutions to customers.
  • Strong customer interfacing and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent presentation and professional written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is a MUST, other language skills will be considered a very strong asset.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize work you're doing to meet deadlines, highlighting risks.
  • Knowledge of various equipment and equipment vendors catering to In-Building networks.
  • Excellent computer and software skills.
