Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Accounting Clerk's primary role is to manage payments received from customers, streamline the cash flow process, and maintain accurate records for reporting and reconciliation purposes. This role is crucial in maintaining healthy cash flow, optimizing revenue generation, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Accounting Clerk will manage customer portals, from registration through to maintenance and updates.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, finance, support, CSMs…) to resolve payment discrepancies & overdue invoices
- Process customer payments, including wire transfers, credit card payments, cheques, etc. and apply them to the appropriate account
- Manage cash application process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Review AR aging report regularly and apply prepaid amounts to be appropriate invoice
- Manage payments received from PayPal and Stripe
- Manage revenue reconciliation for completed training & delivered services
- Maintain records & documentation as required
- Monitor AR inbox and handle customer inquiries as appropriate
- Support collection activities by working with customers on overdue invoices
- Manage customer portals throughout the different stages
- Assist in special projects & work on other customer success activities as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields is required
- 2-4 years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable or related role
- Experience with Salesforce & Sage, Stripe, and PayPal
- Knowledge of Acumatica is considered an asset
- Strong communication skills to interact with customers & internal teams
- Problem solver, methodical, attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed environment, and comfortable in rapidly changing and sometimes ambiguous work situations
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-time zone environment
Language Requirement:
This role requires bilingual proficiency in French and English. English is essential, as the position involves extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams and customers worldwide, where it serves as the primary language of communication.
