Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose

Design, develop, and optimize optical fiber manufacturing platforms (process + equipment) to reduce costs and enable new product capabilities. Identify and solve process limitations using scientific and engineering methods, conducting targeted experiments. Convert findings into practical engineering requirements and design improvements. Collaborate globally on technology development and advance innovation projects across all stages.

 

Key Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, improve, and industrialize optical fiber manufacturing platforms
  • Drive root-cause understanding of manufacturing limitations using scientific methods
  • Translate experimental solutions into engineering requirements and process/equipment designs
  • Participate in global, cross-functional teams from concept to early manufacturing
  • Provide troubleshooting support during prototype development and demonstration
  • Design and execute equipment validation tests; analyze data and make recommendations
  • Document and communicate results within the team and to management
  • Support multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Physics, or Materials Engineering
  • 5–10 years of engineering experience
  • Strong background in process engineering (physics/chemistry) and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with scientific method and engineering principles for problem-solving
  • Hands-on approach for troubleshooting and experimentation
  • Knowledge of fiber optics and materials
  • Proficiency with data processing software (e.g., Jump, Python, PowerBI) and Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in both English and Polish (spoken and written)

 

DESIRED:

  • Experience translating engineering solutions into process/equipment designs
  • Experience with optical fiber draw processes and platforms
  • Proficiency with modeling/simulation software (e.g., Aspen, Matlab, Fluent)
  • Experience working with research, modeling, or early-stage development groups

 

Travel Requirements:

5% domestic and international
