Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope:
Provides engineering support for job classifications that engage in research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline within the Engineering/Manufacturing job family. Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other personnel.
Job Description:
- Determination of manufacturability of products and improved effectiveness and cost of production processes through determinations regarding: Methods, equipment, layout, workflow, time standards, capacity utilization, process/equipment improvements, and process control systems.
- May involve application of knowledge and methods for understanding physical phenomena to achieve specified characteristics and criteria for products and processes.
- organizational health and safety management systems, procedures, and programs.
- Encompasses the application of various scientific principles from multiple engineering disciplines such as chemical, electrical, electronic, and mechanical, involving structures, machines, apparatus, or manufacturing processes.
Required Qualification:
- Currently enrolled and pursuing an Undergraduate degree or higher in Engineering
- Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology (e.g. designing and using critical experiments to drive fundamental understanding)
- Analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships, work in teams and interact with all levels of the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
- Working knowledge or experience with design of experiments (DOE) concepts

The range for this position is $1,519.00 - $3,074.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
