Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Responsible for supervising process/controls engineers and technicians. Balances priorities to ensure team members deliver daily operational support to meet plant commitments while also achieving cost reduction targets and continuous improvement goals in safety, capability, and quality for assigned process areas. Promotes a work-place culture that values respect for the individual, data-driven decisions, and application of engineering principles to solve problems. As part of TCP Engineering Staff, helps manage resource allocation, cost reduction portfolio ideation and tracking, scorecard tracking, and capital planning. Acts as coach and mentor to help employees grow professionally and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
• Owns meeting the production targets for assigned lines and is accountable to do so. Focuses on process capability, process understanding, and robust Eng solutions. Holds team accountable, and ensures they have the right systems and support in place to meet the daily/weekly goals. (Focus is mainly daily, weekly, and monthly; yearly as needed.)
• Owns project list that improves assigned lines/area.
• Provides direction, prioritization, and mentorship to process/ controls engineers and technicians in the Engineering department at Trivium Cable Plant
• Assigns objectives and projects to direct reports. Provides guidance on project priority, scope, and key business linkages. Helps employees manage schedule and resolve conflicts.
• Conducts periodic Performance Development and Reviews with employees. Establishes tailored development plans that support growth of direct reports.
• Ensures all work is performed in a safe manner and environment. Responsible for observing safe work practices and being proactive in reporting any unsafe conditions.
• Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects.
• Ability to work across various functional groups on a daily basis to accomplish goals
• Identifies and communicates process performance opportunities, resource utilization opportunities, and resource/skill gaps, and proposes solutions to resolve these challenges/opportunities.
Experiences/Education - Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
• Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Interpersonal skills – engaging, enabling, supportive, open
• Strong organizational skills
• Energetic, effective under pressure, and can respond positively to constructive feedback
• Highly motivated, results oriented, customer focused, with a high commitment level
• Sound problem solving and decision-making processes and skills

Experiences/Education - Desired
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods, systems, production processes, measurements, and controls systems
• Understanding of PLC and programming capabilities
• Validated delivery of results through project and organizational leadership
• Demonstrated track record of performance results and people development
• Demonstrated track record of engineering/technical accomplishment
• 3+ years of direct people management experience

The range for this position is $125,734.00 - $172,884.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
