Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose:

 

As the Facilities Engineer III, you will:

  • Lead and manage daily operational activities, including directing staff and vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong tenant relationships.
  • Oversee operational budgets and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Deliver proactive and reactive multi-skilled maintenance services to support operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement best practice strategies aligned with Corning’s business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervise facilities associates and engineers.
  • Maintain building infrastructure, drawings, and process systems, including but not limited to:
    • HVAC systems
    • Compressed air systems
    • Chilled water systems
    • Coordination of construction contractors
  • Coordinate facility construction projects, including preparing Scope of Work documents, cost estimates, and appropriation requests.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives within the facilities portfolio.
  • Manage facilities projects, including team supervision, construction, implementation, training, and cost accounting.

 

Hours of Work:

 

  • Generally 1st shift: Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Some overtime, weekend coverage, and on-call availability required.
  • Night shift oversight included.

 

Required Experience & Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years with strong experience in manufacturing or technical military background
  • Leadership - Frontline supervisory or team leader experience in a production or operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and projects to achieve measurable results.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and operational systems.
  • Experience with cost management and financial oversight.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and property maintenance fundamentals.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment

The range for this position is $91,827.00 - $126,263.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
