The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Position Summary

The IT Applications Team Lead is responsible for leading the development, support, governance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and business applications across Trivium facilities. This role serves as the primary liaison between the manufacturing plants and corporate application (service lines) teams, ensuring business requirements are translated into effective technology solutions.

The Applications Team Lead provides technical leadership for manufacturing data solutions, reporting platforms, web applications, Microsoft platforms, AI enablement initiatives, and application integrations while ensuring solutions support operational excellence, data-driven decision-making, and digital transformation objectives. The role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, SAP, COMET, Infrastructure, and Controls teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of application developers, business intelligence analysts, web developers, and manufacturing data specialists.
  • Establish team priorities and align resources to business objectives.
  • Drive accountability, project execution, and operational support activities.
  • Develop technical roadmaps and growth plans for application team members.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor resources when required.

Business Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary IT liaison between plant operations and enterprise application teams.
  • Partner with SAP, COMET - Manufacturing Systems, Engineering, and Operations teams to prioritize enhancements and resolve issues.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions and project plans.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and change management activities.

Application Development & Support

  • Oversee development and support of custom manufacturing applications.
  • Guide Power Platform, Power BI, SharePoint, Databricks, and web development initiatives.
  • Ensure applications meet performance, reliability, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Govern application lifecycle management, testing, deployment, and documentation processes.
  • Support AI and advanced analytics initiatives that improve operational performance.

Manufacturing Data & Analytics

  • Lead efforts to transform manufacturing data into actionable business intelligence.
  • Oversee development of dashboards, KPIs, and reporting solutions.
  • Ensure data integration between manufacturing systems, historians (PI), ERP systems, and analytics platforms.
  • Support creation of trusted datasets for reporting, AI, and operational analytics.
  • Promote standardization of reporting and metrics across facilities.

Governance & Standards

  • Establish application development standards, governance processes, and best practices.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Maintain documentation, disaster recovery procedures, and knowledge repositories.
  • Participate in audits and compliance activities as required.

Project & Portfolio Management

  • Lead multiple concurrent initiatives supporting manufacturing and business operations.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, risk assessments, and communication strategies.
  • Track project progress and report status to plant leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology for productivity, quality, safety, and cost improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Business Information Technology, or additional experience to be considered.
  • Minimum 5+ years of IT Applications, Software Development, Business Intelligence, Manufacturing Systems, or related experience.
    3+ years of project management or leading technical teams.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or operational technology environments.
  • Application Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • ERP and Manufacturing Systems integrations\
  • Power BI/Analytics
  • Application Integration
  • SQL Server & Oracle
  • Web Application Development
  • Databricks, Python, or modern analytics platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data Modeling and Integration
  • SAP / CAMSTAR business process knowledge.
  • Experience with AI enablement and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and operational reporting.
  • PMP, Agile, Power Platform, Databricks, or related certifications.
  • Cloud and Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations

The range for this position is $92,830.00 - $127,641.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
