Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position

  • To assist with the overall coordination and communication of schedules and plan to expedite the movement and queue of product through the plant in the most efficient manner.
  • Focus on coordination between all 4 shifts.
  • Manage overall plant product queues, inventories, and OOF.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Continuous attention to safety; Create a safe working culture & environment
  • Support Lean principles and efforts
  • Manage product movement and queues for priority orders
  • Review production needs over the next 1-5 days; Coordinate plans for product movement with planning department, ops department manager, team leaders, and production coordinators
  • Manage OOF product and work with planning department to disposition, and create orders 
  • Work with shift teams to manage queue at each process step
  • Work with production coordinators to maintain consistency between shifts in product movement and queues
  • Identify and isolate the source of problems whenever possible, taking corrective action with the direction of the production supervisor or department manager
  • Identify and implement actions to improve product movement efficiency throughout the plant
  • Escalate recurring issues (Quality, product flow, etc.) to a supervisor, maintenance. and Engineering
  • Document instructions, issues, resolutions, and deviations in the shift handoff
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings required by plant management

 

Work Hours & Expectations 

  • Typical work schedule is 40 hours Monday through Friday, dayshift
  • Work may require limited overtime and support on each shift; Work schedules will be jointly agreed upon by the employee and Department manager 
  • Work is anticipated to coordinate with the groups at HCP, NCP, and TCP (occasional travel between plants)

 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required 
  • 5+ years of service and/or experience in cable manufacturing
  • 1+ years cable plant coordinator experience 
  • Must not be in progressive discipline process; Dependability as reflected in attendance records

 

Required Skills

  • Strong commitment to enhancing safety culture
  • Demonstrated ability to direct cable production processes in accordance with SOP’s; Ability to communicate to production personnel, and processes and procedures necessary to ensure the product and the quality of cable.
  • Knowledge of cable processing, manufacturing equipment and raw materials used throughout plant. 
  • Certified and experienced Manufacturing Associate; Broad understanding of Plant Operation.
  • Able to work within a team environment and collaborate across organizational boundaries to organize activities.
  • Results oriented, understand urgency of deadlines, and follow tasks to completion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, & interpersonal skills.
  • Effective in managing multiple priorities / tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and good planning / organization skills. 
  • Proficiency with standard computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Experience with SAP and CoMET

The range for this position is ​$25.25 hourly rate - $29.63 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
