Role Purpose
Corning's Cables Division is building its manufacturing data governance program from the ground up — and this role is at the center of it. As the Manufacturing Data Governance Manager, you'll define and operationalize data standards, master data management, and data quality across eight manufacturing sites in North America and Europe. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Digital Transformation, you'll ensure every analytics, digital, and AI initiative the division builds is grounded in a clean, consistent, and governed data foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the Cables Division manufacturing data governance framework, including standards, policies, stewardship models, ownership roles, and quality metrics
- Lead PI System tag naming convention standardization and remediation across all sites in partnership with Division Engineering
- Drive Manufacturing Execution System (MES) configuration harmonization with central IT and plant operations teams
- Establish standardized Key Performance Indicator (KPI) definitions, calculations, and data lineage for division-level reporting
- Define and govern manufacturing master data — product, equipment, line, and process — in coordination with corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data teams
- Serve as the business owner of manufacturing data standards; partner with IT platform owners across PI, MES, data lake, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools
- Support digital and analytics initiatives as a data governance reviewer; ensure new solutions align with division standards and contribute to a shared, scalable data foundation
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing data, manufacturing IT, or data governance roles, with meaningful experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of working knowledge of PI System (OSIsoft/AVEVA), including asset framework and tag conventions
- 1+ years of working knowledge of MES platforms (Camstar/Opcenter or equivalent) and their data structures
- Experience defining and operating data governance programs, including standards, stewardship, quality monitoring, and data lineage
- Experience with master data management concepts and practices in a manufacturing context
- Working knowledge of SQL, data lakes, and BI/analytics platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-site standardization across multiple plants with varied legacy practices
- Strong communication skills — able to translate data concepts for plant operators, engineers, IT teams, and executive audiences
Experiences/Education - Desired
- PI System certification (OSIsoft/AVEVA)
- Familiarity with industry data standards such as ISA-95 or ISA-88
- Experience operating in a hub-and-spoke organizational model with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority
