Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to oversee and manage the various functional areas related to fiber planning, material planning, inventory management, and warehouse operations. The position will involve supervising both hourly and salaried employees.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage day-to-day activities for fiber planning, material planning, shipping, receiving, finished goods inventory, and raw material purchasing.
  • Maintain close collaboration with the Demand Management team, Commercial Forecast team, and Product Line teams.
  • Develop and implement inventory plans to meet customer requirements, optimize customer service, and reduce costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve material flow and velocity within the plant.
  • Lead and direct Production Schedulers and Material Planners to meet customer demand while managing operational and capacity constraints.
  • Ensure order fulfillment metrics are achieved and work towards reducing lead times.
  • Analyze data on demand, capacity, and inventory to provide capacity recommendations to the Leadership team and highlight any areas of concern. 
  • Manage the shipping process to ensure on-time delivery of Corning's products to domestic and international customers, while ensuring compliance with import/export regulations.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal customers and collaborate with operations and engineering teams to resolve issues, drive continuous improvement, and enhance supply chain effectiveness.
  • Develop the team in a safety-conscious environment that promotes empowerment and continuous improvement.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • The position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Technical, or Business field.
  • Previous experience in scheduling, planning, and/or warehouse supervision.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Broad understanding and experience in complex, process-oriented manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, direct, and develop both exempt and nonexempt employees.
  • Excellent scheduling, capacity management and leadership skills.

 

Desired Skills:

  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP).
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
  • Experience in procurement.
  • Advanced knowledge of logistics and warehousing.

The range for this position is  $109,744.00   -  $150,898.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
