Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
The purpose of the Technical Coordinator position is to maximize product flow throughout the cable manufacturing process. Technical coordinators are responsible for dispositioning rejected product that needs additional review in a timely manner. When issues arise in production that cannot be resolved by operations or maintenance, it is the coordinator’s responsibility to provide technical support and contact appropriate member(s) of the engineering/MET team to drive issues to resolution. Technical coordinators also improve shift to shift continuity and effectiveness through interaction and meetings with the other coordinators, offering suggestions and implementing new tools and procedures.
This position includes significant duties such as:
- Ensure orders are not sitting on hold for prolonged periods of time
- Provide technical support to production & escalate to the appropriate personnel if needed
- Responsible for dispositioning rejected product in all engineering buckets
- Work with operators to generate & execute ideas to improve processes & product flow
- Responsible for organizing and 5S of manufacturing and engineering areas
- Work closely with Team Leader & Manufacturing Coordinator(s) on shift to understand production priorities & demand
- Request assistance as needed for Maintenance, MET, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, or IT support
- Foster a team environment to optimize quality output of product and promote safety awareness
- Responsible for his/her safety, as well as that of others that may be at the facility, whether working or visiting, and proactively reporting any unsafe conditions
- Attention to consistent material handling procedures with an awareness of safe material transport according to environmental and hazardous materials protocols
- Technical shift Passover from night shift to day shift process & equipment technicians

Hours of work/work schedule:
- 9pm – 9am (C shift / D shift modified)
- 3 – 2 – 2 schedule Required:
- High School or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes
- Strong Communication Skills
- Ability to multi-task and plan ahead (Adapt to fluid, challenging conditions)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-starter
- Ability to learn new technical skills
Desired:
- 2-Year Degree
- In-depth CoMET and SAP knowledge
- Knowledge of machine capabilities
- Experience with structured problem solving
