Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose

We are seeking a dynamic Workforce Development Leader to join our team and make a meaningful impact at our plant. In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing, managing, and enhancing skill development programs for both our manufacturing and leadership teams. Your innovative strategies and collaborative spirit will help us achieve our goals while nurturing employee growth and retention.
Key Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of plant processes to effectively support workforce training strategies.

Partner with operations, warehousing, maintenance, and other functions to identify opportunities in hiring, onboarding, and retention.

Create innovative career development solutions for salaried employees in limited-transition environments.

Build strong employee relationships through visible presence on the plant floor and regular interactions with front-line supervisors.

Serve as a liaison between Operations and Human Resources to facilitate hiring, onboarding, and talent retention efforts.

Use assessments (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups) to identify growth opportunities.

Stay updated on best practices in manufacturing and workforce development by attending relevant seminars, meetings, or professional events.

Design and deliver engaging training programs using diverse instructional formats (e.g., role-playing, group discussions, simulations).

Regularly refresh and optimize existing training materials to incorporate new methods and industry trends.

Implement programs that directly impact productivity, efficiency, and lean principles.

Conduct departmental gap analyses and execute training plans to address identified needs.

Foster effective communication with staff, internal customers, and other Workforce Development Leaders.

Create a culture of continuous learning, encouraging employee participation in development opportunities.

Serve as the GTC (Global Training Coordinator) for the plant.
Qualifications & Experience - Required
Location: Newton and Trivium Site, NC

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in training and team leadership.

Proven success collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Exceptional leadership and people skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.

Experience facilitating small- or large-group training sessions.
-
Confidentiality, credibility, and strategic vision to align workforce development with business goals.
Qualifications & Experience - Desired

Proficient with Microsoft 365 Tools and Applications (SharePoint, Teams, etc.).

Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented.

The range for this position is $79,623.00 - $109,482.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
