Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

 

The Sales Engineer provides consultative technical expertise to support sales opportunities, accelerating revenue growth across the region. This role involves presenting wireless and wireline design solutions, conducting proof-of-concepts, and acting as a key liaison between Sales, Marketing, Product, and R&D teams.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and present tailored technical solutions that address client challenges through a consultative approach (on-site and virtual).
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor for clients, Sales, Marketing, Training, Product, and R&D teams.
  • Deliver solution workshops, product demonstrations, technical training, webinars, and proof-of-concepts while clearly articulating business value.
  • Create and maintain reusable industry-specific assets, demonstrations, and technical collateral.
  • Stay current on industry trends, business processes, and competitive landscapes relevant to client industries.
  • Translate client business and technical requirements into effective solution proposals.
  • Provide pre- and post-sales support, including solution design, proposal development, and deployment assistance.
  • Support RFP processes with technical responses and solution recommendations.
  • Document and recreate technical issues, escalating and driving resolution as needed.
  • Participate in RF engineering activities, including product testing, feature validation, and special projects.
  • Capture and document customer feature requests to inform product development.

Experiences/Education - Required

 

  • Hands-on RF engineering experience in in-building and outdoor design, DAS, small cell, CRAN, Wi-Fi, and complex venue deployments.
  • Proficiency with iBwave’s suite Solutions (Reach, Design, Wi-Fi, FiberPass, Mobile, Unity).
  • Deep expertise in designing, deploying, and optimizing wireless networks (including passive and active DAS).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate risks effectively.
  • Knowledge of equipment vendors and data collection tools for in-building networks.
  • Strong understanding of radio wave propagation theory.
  • Familiarity with multiple wireless technologies and protocols, including CDMA, WCDMA, GSM, EDGE, GPRS, TDMA, iDEN, Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G NR, and/or IoT.
  • Strong computer and software skills; MapInfo and Infovista's Planet experience is a plus.
  • iBwave Certification Level 2 required; Level 3 preferred.
  • CWNP certification is an asset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages are an asset.

The range for this position is $94,454.00 - $129,875.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
