Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Percentage of Annual Travel in Region: 70% travel

Work Location: Eastern NC (Reside in or near Raleigh market)

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Through regular sales calls and new business development activities, achieve revenue targets in the Eastern North Carolina and the Myrtle Beach, SC market.

• Balance time spent with end users, contractors, consultants, and distribution partners to generate a preference for Corning and close a variety of deals that vary from transactional to larger fiber deployments

• Drive new business development in target end-user accounts and execute regional customer education and thought-leadership events

• Prepare and conduct monthly business and inventory reviews with Channel Partners

• Apply strategic thinking and proactively monitor market and vertical trends to develop and execute an annual sales plan to grow Corning's share in the territory

• Provide consistent, clear communication to the regional team, your Regional Sales Manager, and the Federal and MTDC teams on new pipeline creation and partner leads

• Timely documentation of sales activities and new pipeline in CRM

• Accurately forecast project pipeline in CRM

 

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of proven success in sales or technical role

• Skilled at cold calling and business development

• Internally motivated, organized, results driven, and highly competitive

• Excellent communication skills, habits, and follow-up

• Competent using sales tools and CRM software

• Valid driver's license and safe driver's record

 

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from 4-year accredited University or College Preferred

• Proven ability to work effectively with minimum supervision from a home-based office

• Experience selling technical solutions or learning technical concepts

The range for this position is $71,667.00 - $98,543.00.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
