Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Purpose is the direct collection and management of past due accounts that may vary by business. Proactively monitor exposure vs. credit limit on existing accounts. Extend credit to new customers with guidance from Credit Manager. Determine credit status for customers as determined by Corporate Credit Policy, CPS-16. Utilize excel sheets to monitor customer accounts and take necessary action as the situation warrants. Record customer interactions, both internal and external, within PeopleSoft and SAP to capture information details. Collect customer financial information, historical payment trends and supply to Credit Manager/Credit Analyst for use in determining appropriate risk on new and existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Manager and Supervisor with reconciliation and reporting as needed
- Responsible for communicating and resolving issues with customers at various levels of their organizations.
- Other responsibilities include collection management and resolution of outstanding invoices.
- Responsible for assisting the groups achieve & maintain compliance with established policies & procedures.
- Prepare monthly reports on status of major past due accounts for Credit Manager.
- When required, answer inquiries from reporting agencies, other businesses and credit groups, re: Corning’s experience with assigned accounts.
- Performs daily ongoing operational tasks of organization.
- Participates in team projects (larger functional teams)
- Ensures that work targets and schedules are met.
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives, identifying, implementing and executing changes to standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement process changes needed to keep accounts reconciled and improve controls.
- Prioritize ongoing tasks, project work, and other initiatives.
- Implement solutions to deal with schedule delays and inform manager of actions taken.
- Liaison with others at the same level, and one level above and below to ensure continuity and efficiency.
- External contacts may be needed, and these may involve sharing and receiving information for day to day activities.
- Flexible work schedule is expected.
- Ensure that all necessary SOPs are completed, accurate, and updated as needed.
Experiences/Education - Required
Operations Management and Services:
- Experience performing daily activities within operational services; begins to review and analyze own work for quality, productivity, and timeliness
- Experience implementing and suggesting process improvements
- Experience performing basic issue resolution; gains exposure to the resolution of complex issues
- Displays in-depth knowledge of Corning's control environment and procedures
- Proactively engages to build relationships with business and functional partners
- Experience supporting day-to-day operational services program
Systems and Data Services:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 1+ year degree in accounting or finance preferred – OTC oriented.
- 5+ years of Experience with a large ERP system preferred (Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft).
- Strong Analytical skills.
- Knowledge and understanding financial statements.
- Knowledge of General Ledger and Sub-Ledgers
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrated process management skills
- Advanced English
