Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
The Lead, Demand Analytics role is crucial in supporting the Demand Planning team to drive accurate demand forecasts that inform business decisions as part of the Integrated Business Planning process. This role leverages advanced forecasting models and techniques to generate statistical forecasts as an accurate baseline for demand planning, manages data analysis, and monitors forecast metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather inputs and integrate relevant data into the weekly and monthly demand planning processes.
- Analyze historical sales and demand patterns to identify trends, seasonality and anomalies, and generate insights to inform forecasting models.
- Utilize advanced statistical methods and forecasting techniques to develop accurate baseline demand forecasts at the SKU, product family and product line levels.
- Leverage and enhance segmentation methodologies to improve planning efficiency and facilitate exception-based decision making.
- Assist in incorporating market intelligence into demand plans and scenarios.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for demand planning, such as forecast accuracy and bias. Perform root cause analysis and adjust forecasting models as needed.
- Seek and execute opportunities to improve the demand planning analytics, leveraging new tools, methodologies, and automation.
- Support process improvement efforts to ensure both accuracy and efficiency, helping to align Commercial, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance on One unconstrained demand plan.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor's degree in a Quantitative discipline, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful insights.
- Demonstrated experience in demand forecasting models, statistical analysis, and predictive analytics.
- Familiarity with demand planning software and ERP systems, such as SAP IBP, Kinaxis, Oracle, OMP, O9, etc. (SAP IBP preferred).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
