Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Corning Inc. is deploying SAP enterprise software to replace numerous legacy ERP systems across the globe (PeopleSoft, etc.).  As part of this transformation effort, we are establishing a central team of Finance resources to help drive successful business deployments, standardization of processes and config, realization of value, and prioritization of system or process enhancements.  This position will partner closely with the businesses on both already deployed locations as well as new deployments, IT ERP transformation team, and Finance operations teams to help drive the future vision of controlling in SAP. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of SAP controlling processes to serve as a critical resource for businesses, providing support during deployments, ongoing operations, user training, and change management initiatives.
  • Provide support to the business Finance deployment teams including assisting with data loads / validation, testing scripts, documentation, project workshops, etc.
    • Understand the TPM aka, transformation process map and procedures which provide the E2E process for a deployment.
  • Work with already deployed locations to identify what is working well and what is not working well in the system.  Assess and drive actions for improvement that could include business process changes, training / education, or system enhancements
  • Solve issues: As part of the team, you will be tasked with addressing a wide range of problems. This role will require you to contribute to solving diverse issues, including those that may extend beyond your area.
  • Support other areas of the broader Finance Digital Transformation initiative as needed including OneStream deployment, reporting / analytics, data visualization, etc
  • Conduct training as needed on critical aspects of the process and system
  • Act as project advocate; building enthusiasm for the project within the function

Experiences/Education - Required

    Business:

    • Experience in a manufacturing plant (Plant Controller) and cost controlling processes (preferred)
    • Process mapping, including the thought process around SIPOCs
    • Comfortable with large data sets and analysis
    • Communication:  writing and presentation – especially able to concisely articulate problems and proposed solutions. 

    Education & Experience:

    • 4-year degree in Business, IT, or STEM area.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience utilizing and understanding controlling functions in SAP (SAP S4 Hana preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in a Finance controlling role of a manufacturing organization (preferred)
  • Up to 25% travel
