Logistics Specialist

Role Summary

The Logistics Specialist coordinates domestic and international movement of capital equipment from planning through delivery. Reporting to the Lead, the role partners with project teams, procurement, trade compliance, and logistics providers to deliver equipment safely, on time, compliantly, and at an optimized cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Logistics Execution & Service Delivery
  •  Execute capital-equipment shipments in line with project schedules and business priorities.
  •  Maintain visibility of equipment at packing and staging locations, including documentation and transportation milestones.
  •  Coordinate export packers, forwarders, carriers, and brokers to support safe, on-time delivery.
  •  Prioritize, expedite, and resolve shipment exceptions and execution issues.
• Transportation Sourcing, Cost & Supplier Management
  •  Maintain rate, project, shipment, and approval data in designated systems.
  •  Optimize mode, routing, consolidation, and packaging to reduce total logistics cost.
  •  Track project spend, savings, and supplier performance.
• Trade Compliance, Documentation & Risk Control
  •  Prepare and coordinate transportation and international shipping documentation.
  •  Apply import, export, customs, security, and recordkeeping requirements; escalate concerns as needed.
  •  Protect IA/IP and support controlled movement of sensitive, high-value, or specialized equipment.
• Systems, Data & Performance Management
  •  Maintain accurate project, shipment, tracking, sourcing, and approval data in designated systems.
  •  Monitor cost, quality, service, and compliance metrics.
  •  Analyze data and provide status, risk, spend, and performance reporting.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement
  •  Coordinate with project customers, Procurement, MTE Cost Control, CDT Logistics, Trade Compliance, Shared Services, and suppliers.
  •  Communicate shipment status, risks, priorities, and required actions proactively.
  •  Support the Lead with issue resolution, reporting, standard work, cross-training, and process improvement.

• Required Qualifications
  •  Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, accounting, operations, or a related field.
  •  3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, project execution, supply chain operations, or procurement.
  •  Knowledge of domestic and international transportation, shipping documentation, and provider coordination.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; fluent English.

• Desired Qualifications
  •  Experience with capital-project logistics, export packing, freight forwarding, or specialized equipment.
  •  Experience with SAP (or similar ERP) and transportation, warehouse, tracking, sourcing, or approval systems.
  •  Knowledge of customs, trade compliance, supply-chain security, Incoterms, and international documentation.
  •  Experience with freight sourcing, spend analysis, supplier performance, cost reduction, or continuous improvement.
