Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

About the Role:
Corning is seeking a Specialist, Integrated Planning to own the execution of core supply chain activities within our Global Supply Chain team. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with foundational experience in supply chain operations who can help optimize processes and contribute to departmental and divisional objectives.

 

In this role, you will focus on core finish goods and material planning activities such as managing purchase orders, tracking shipments, resolving discrepancies, and supporting process improvement initiatives. You will also support business units supply chain teams with data management, supply shortage resolution, and inventory management. This position emphasizes collaboration with suppliers, internal departments, and Corning’s Shared Services to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Execute purchase order placement based on system-generated signals (MRP), following global procurement processes.
  • Communicate with suppliers to confirm order quantities and delivery dates; update ERP system with acknowledgments and changes.
  • Expedite, defer, or cancel orders based on inventory levels and system recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain short-term production, material, and/or delivery plans aligned with demand forecasts, inventory policies, and supply constraints.
  • Distribute forecast reports to suppliers and support the resolution of supply shortages or delays.
  • Support accurate execution of system transactions related to inventory movement, production orders, and purchase orders
  • Partner with suppliers, receiving, and Corning Shared Services to resolve match exceptions and invoice discrepancies.
  • Support business unit supply teams with data management, report generation, and communication of issues and resolutions.
  • Monitor overdue orders and provide updates to internal stakeholders on status and risks.
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve supply chain issues and ensure smooth workflows.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-year in supply chain, engineering, or a related field AND/OR 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to collect and analyze data effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities independently.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or other related field
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with procurement processes and systems.
  • ERP system experience (SAP preferred).
  • Familiarity with Life Sciences products, materials, and manufacturing processes.
