Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
About the Role:
Corning is seeking a Sr. Planner for our Global Supply Chain Integrated Planning team. We are looking for a visionary professional with planning expertise to develop, create, and implement detailed planning standards and work processes throughout our business operations.
In the first 9 to 18 months, you will collaborate with internal partners to design and establish Corning's Integrated Planning Standards. This role involves supporting the integration of planning tools under one ERP system and assisting in the development of standardized processes and SOPs. Your contribution will drive efficiency and productivity across business units.
After 9-18 your role will evolve into a core planning operation position. You will act as a crucial link between customers and manufacturing sites, managing inventory levels and coordinating with various departments. Your goal will be to optimize supply chain operations and meet customer demand while minimizing costs.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (Master’s degree and professional certification e.g., APICS, CSCP are a plus)
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, or a related field
• Proficiency in ERP and supply chain planning software (e.g., SAP)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and demands
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and implement supply chain planning work processes
• Develop short term production schedules aligning with demand forecasts and inventory policies
• Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and warehouse teams
• Monitor and manage inventory levels and trends
• Implement inventory control policies and procedures
• Plan transportation and distribution of products
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and present findings to senior management
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the supply chain
