Overview/Scope of Position:

The Trade Compliance Auditor will play a pivotal role in coordinating and administering Corning’s trade compliance audit process. This role involves ensuring that all key aspects of our trade compliance program, such as Harmonized Tariff System Classification, Valuation, Country of Origin, and Free Trade Agreement are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and policies set by the Trade Compliance COE. The Auditor will be responsible for interfacing with various Subject Matter Experts (SME) to validate that the information declared to Customs is correct.

Purpose and Major Responsibilities of Position:

  • Execute trade compliance auditing in accordance with Corning’s auditing policy and procedures based on risk, value, and volumes.
  • Work in multiple systems and manual environments with various formats to collect the right data and execute the expected analyses and results.
  • Interface with multiple functional teams, potentially in different countries, to validate critical trade compliance data elements identified within import and/or export transactions. 
  • Identify non-conformance and trends within the data and present to functional data owners, as well as Trade Compliance management.
  • Interface with Regional Business Unit Trade Compliance Managers to drive for corrective actions and closure on non-conformance.
  • Manage information gathered during the auditing process and translate into clear and concise results messaging presentations. 
  • Initiate and drive meetings required to provide results or trends identified which may lead to changes within the risk categories. 
  • Support the development and implementation of compliance training programs.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Trade Compliance or customs experience
  • Minimum 2 years of Trade Compliance auditing experience
  • Strong knowledge in HTS Classification, Country of Origin, & Valuation determination
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with stakeholders, across functions, countries, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments
  • Ability to travel 10-15%
  • Demonstrate time management and prioritization skills.
