Scope of Position

This position focuses on the implementation, coordination and execution of the Quality Management System (QMS) for Corning Incorporated Life Sciences division. This role is to be based in Corning’s Oneonta manufacturing facility. This role includes Document Control and Change Control management. Engaging in support of the quality system through audit support, project support, and coordination of work activities between key stakeholders to ensure QMS progress.  We look for you to work closely with other functions within the organization (Human Resources, Engineering, Operations, Development and Procurement) and be responsible for driving continuous improvement and compliance of the QMS.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Plant Document Control and Change Control activities.
  • Participation in CAPA, Compliant, Non-Conforming Material and Helpdesk programs
  • Participate in the Audit Program and perform internal audits
  • Work with Training Coordinator on applicable training activities to ensure changes that require training are trained to before going into effect. Facilitates training as necessary
  • Maintain and periodically report metrics consistent with job activities.
  • Participate in environmental monitoring and calibration programs.
  • Support Plant Safety programs to provide a safe working environment.
  • Achieve applicable department requirements for safety, quality and cost.  
  • File maintenance of hardcopy documents as needed.
  • Assign document numbers.
  • Proposes recommendations for simplification and continuous improvement.  
  • Maintains and ensures confidentiality of materials.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of Plant literature resources and awareness of local, national, and international requirements, as applicable.
  • Owner and administrator of Plant Records retention Program.  Works with Department of Archives and Records Management (DARM) to ensure the Plant system is compliant.  Conducts training and supports Corporate assessment as required.
  • Schedules and coordinates yearly records clean-out activities.
  • Provide back-up support for other quality positions.
  • Provides support as required to achieve Quality Department short and long term goals.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Associates degree or 3-5 years of relevant experience in a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or technical function.
  • Experience with quality management systems and regulatory compliance   standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820)
  • Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions
  • Experience preparing for and supporting audits
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Specifically formatting and macros in Word.
  • Excellent cross functional communication skills
  • Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience with EtQ.
  • Experience with project management or coordination
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies – yellow or green belt preferred
  • Experience with document control procedures and systems
  • Experience with Quality Management software administration

The range for this position is $46,256.00 - $63,602.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
