Scope of Position
In this Intern role, you will improve product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality, and service). There will also be opportunity to serve on small and multi-disciplined project teams to assist in meeting project milestones and objectives. Provide solutions for increased process yield, increased material utilization, decreased costs, improvement to product quality by planning, organizing and implementing projects, and to lead or assist in work packages as part of a small project team. We look for you to assist in advancing the innovation process to enable the delivery of new products.
You will be involved with continuous improvement efforts on new and established manufacturing lines. Create or provide input to project plans, establish project plan and milestones scope, schedule, cost estimate, cost reduction, and strategy. You will need to provide regular updates on project status, including design reviews and conduct or contribute to a project critique at completion and share key learning(s).

Day to Day Responsibilities
- Meet all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements.
- Develop robust solutions that maintain product integrity and are compliant to the existing Quality Management System.
- Assists in problem-solving, to ensure timely resolution of short-term process issues, and higher-level troubleshooting.
- Provide cost and schedule updates on assigned project.
- Provide general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals) and lead a project to get to root cause of issues and put permanent solutions in place.
- Recommend and implement permanent solutions to long term performance issues and improve existing and new technologies.
- Develop knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.
- Modify existing process settings through rigorous experimental design to continuously improve process performance.
- Coordinate installation, debugging and initial operation of new equipment and systems.
- Apply both analytical concepts and “hands-on” learning
- Create designs with an emphasis on design for manufacturability and durability (i.e. ease of manufacture, cost avoidance, etc).
- Update action plans as needed to conform to changes in the project plan, specify challenges to timelines and expected outcomes in detail and track progress.
- Manage time and resources effectively to meet milestones.
- Generate possible solutions, plans, and contingencies before acting and before soliciting advice from others.
- Champion project efforts and build consensus among team members on the goals of the project.
- Develop criteria to prioritize tasks.
- Understand and support corporate requirements and standards/processes.
Requirements
Education:
- Currently enrolled as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior year pursuing Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Master’s student in a similar discipline.
- Prefer disciplines in Electrical, Chemical, Plastics or Mechanical.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Formal problem-solving skills/training.
Desired Skills:
- CAD software experience a plus Pro-Engineer preferred
- SolidWorks
- Six Sigma and Statistical software experience
- Presentation and PowerPoint skills

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
