Position Overview
The Manufacturing Shift Supervisor will oversee, coordinate, and guide employees involved in the production of work-in-progress (WIP) components and finished goods for Life Sciences operations at the Oneonta plant. This role is accountable for shift performance, ensuring production objectives are met, and enforcing compliance with facility procedures, policies, and documentation standards.
Shift Details:
This facility operates 24/7. Available shifts include:
- Night Shift: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM.
Some flexibility may be required based on operational needs. - Rotational shift (2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, every other weekend off)
Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Housekeeping: Drive exceptional safety performance and maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Production Goals: Support all safety, quality, and production objectives.
- Schedule Management: Prioritize production schedules by optimizing equipment efficiency, material supply, and labor resources to meet daily targets for quality and quantity.
- Team Supervision: Provide direct supervision, daily work assignments, and clear instructions to team members.
- Goal Achievement: Lead subordinates to meet individual, team, and plant-wide objectives.
- Resource Alignment: Ensure resources align with production and scheduling needs while monitoring team performance.
- Compliance: Enforce adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), code of conduct, plant/company rules, safety regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Union Engagement: Set clear expectations, foster accountability, and engage effectively with unionized workforce.
- Communication: Facilitate the exchange of critical information across all organizational levels.
- Quality Standards: Define and achieve quality performance metrics to meet or exceed manufacturing goals and cost objectives.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement efforts using Six Sigma methodologies and ensure equipment availability and line performance goals are sustained.
- Data Analysis: Gather and analyze process data related to continuous flow manufacturing.
- New Product Implementation: Provide support for new product introductions as required.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably Engineering/Technical)
- Minimum of 1+ years in supervisory or manufacturing roles.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to mentor, coach, and teach across organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions under pressure while adhering to SOPs and troubleshooting effectively.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and collaboration with engineering teams to develop solutions.
- Skilled at managing multiple areas within the plant, allocating resources effectively, and prioritizing tasks.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Principled approach to processes, policies, and people.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Basic statistical knowledge.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems and operations.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.

The range for this position is $61,849.00 - $85,043.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
