SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• Collaborates with Supply Chain Manager to develop and implement integrated, holistic strategies that encompass plant procurement, manufacturing planning, inventory management, shipping/logistics, and manufacturing systems to achieve business profitability and unit cost objectives.

Evaluates and improves overall supply chain process and systems to enhance supply chain effectiveness between suppliers, customers, and Corning.

• Involved in the end-to-end supply chain to enable sustainable competitive advantage for the CMS business unit. Areas of focus include Sales & Operations Planning, manufacturing capacity analyses, production planning & scheduling, sourcing and procurement, order fulfillment, and SAP system integration.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for supporting and executing the CMS supply chain strategy (commercial, technology, manufacturing, quality, and supply management). Ensures the local strategy aligns with divisional supply chain strategies for the business.

• Key contributor to the S&OP supply management process. Manages plant capacity models and key manufacturing assumptions. Optimizes production plan to fulfill demand in the most efficient manner.

• Manages key external suppliers by determining procurement strategies, allocating business, and monitoring and measuring supplier performance.

• Key member of the SAP ERP implementation team. Works with SC manager to ensure system architecture is consistent with manufacturing and inventory management strategies.

• Develops and implements inventory strategies to meet customer demand while maintaining target levels of stock

• Creates lean, end-to-end supply chains to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of orders to customers in the most cost-efficient way.

• Balances manufacturing capacity and production schedule with customer demands. Develops short-term supply chain operations plans consistent with long-term objectives.

• Executes the Commercial and Manufacturing strategies, bridging between the functions as appropriate. Works directly with various customer organizations (either internal or external to the organization) to enhance supply chain effectiveness between customer and the plant or Corning.

• Collaborates with supply management, logistics, trade compliance, legal, etc. Insures all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines and local regulations.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing environment

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Strong knowledge of SAP or other ERP software

• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings

• Expertise in manufacturing capacity analysis and production planning

• Comprehensive PC skills, particularly MS Excel •

Communication skills, both written and oral

• Self-motivated and self-directed, works with minimal supervision, able to work in team environment

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues effectively

• Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities

 

DESIRED SKILLS

• Expertise in manufacturing capacity analysis

• APICS CPIM/CSCP certification

• Experience across multiple businesses, divisions and/or technologies.
