Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

 

Purpose of Position:

 

  • Support Metals Section Supervisor to achieve safety, quality, and productivity performance

 

 

Work Schedule:

  • Current shift is 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Note - we may be adding another shift and this role could potentially begin working 2 p.m. - 10 p.m. in early 2022

 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure staffing is appropriate based on available personnel and needs of the department/plant.
  • Provide immediate supervision to subordinates to execute assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Build effective relationships with plant support groups.
  • Maintain and make sure all safety regulations and housekeeping standards on a consistent basis. Ensure completion of safety inspections and compliance with Corporate Safety elements and standards.
  • Maintain payroll and production records.
  • Resolve work related or personnel issues expediently as possible.
  • Lead special projects as assigned, including safety improvements, process improvements, lean manufacturing, workforce development
  • Implement corrective action related to process variations, equipment malfunctions, or operations
  • Assist employees in setting daily production priorities.
  • Actively participate in the training of new employees, conduct refresher training with experienced employees, and review/maintain training materials and records
  • Identify existing materials and/or need for ordering additional materials
  • Improve Preventive Maintenance program by identifying new PMs and tracking completion of current PMs

 

Education & Experience:

  • We are seeking an Associate degree (technical degree highly preferred) and 1+ years experience , High school diploma / GED and 3+ years leadership and/or manufacturing experience, or Military experience
  • Demonstrated safety leadership
  • Sound decision making and prioritization skills
  • Ability to effectively handle / motivate union employees in a team environment
  • Communicate with all levels of the plant organization
  • Strong people skills - able to resolve conflict
  • Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to train, coach, and direct others
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
