Scope of Position

Apply Mechanical, Electrical, Automation skills and knowledge to support the development and improvement of state-of-the-art automation equipment.

Day-to-Day Responsabilities

  • Work alongside technology development and engineering teams in the design of automation and mechanical equipment by creating CAD drawings and models.
  • Support the integration of new Control systems equipment such as HMIs and Vision systems.
  • Deliver design solutions and write technical reports for completed work to capture insights.
  • Use 3d printers to create functional prototypes and assist with machine assembly

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering.  Preference is for students who will have completed their 3rd year of a BS level college engineering program prior to starting the internship and will be graduating within 12 months of finishing the internship.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

Required Skills

  • Solid understanding of mechanical principles and strong design skills
  • Computer literacy and experience with data analysis tools
  • Ability to analyze machine, equipment, process data to uncover insights and make design decisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
  • Result-oriented, takes strong initiative, and able to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Organizational skills and the ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
