Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

 

Scope of Position:

This position is in the Ceramic Technology group within the CET Corning Diesel Manufacturing Plant. The primary focus is to provide support for raw material projects and through process characterization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Ceramic Technology processes and databases.
  • Support raw material projects related to supplier change, second source qualifications, and variability reduction.
  • Implement/operate new lab equipment and control systems into manufacturing.
  • Develop laboratory processes to simulate production, with emphasis on raw materials and forming.
  • Support new product/new composition introduction and receivership activities.
  • Serve as a process resource for troubleshooting production processes.
  • Collect and analyze lab and production data through experimentation.
  • Develop and update engineering, operations, and lab documentation.

 

Travel Requirements: less than 5%. (within the Corning Valley)

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Your typical work schedule will be 8-5pm M-F although you should expect to have flexibility for off shift and weekend coverage is expected to support project assignments including overtime.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 2-year Associate Degree in a technical field
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Access including macros
  • Solid data analysis & statistics skills
  • Technically curious, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Capable of monitoring and executing designed experiments
  • Creative problem solving
  • Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent team player; works effectively with cross functional teams

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with through process product logistics at DN
  • Experience with Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC projects
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative process/equipment improvements
  • Strong documentation and communication skills – written and verbal
