SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • Reporting to the Service Owner of Collaboration, the Collaboration Architect is a senior technology leader that will function as designer for collaboration technologies, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office 365. This person will function as an enabler within IT Architecture working with other stakeholders to enhance the business value and user experience derived from Collaboration Services at Corning.
  • Responsibility will include leading strategy and design efforts to enhance and maintain Corning’s Collaboration solution and roadmap and supporting the delivery of several complex people, process and technology related activities associated to the roadmap including migration to Office 365 services in 2021 and beyond.
  • As a core member of the collaboration team, this role will require strong communication to bridge between various IT teams including; Infrastructure, Applications, IT User Experience and Business engagement, as well as an excellent ability to navigate within a background of relative ambiguity.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain and enhance the collaboration roadmap with partnership from User Experience, Security and other stakeholder groups within the company
  • Assist with defining, shaping and leading collaboration solution design associated to projects and business demand
  • Leads the creation of standards, policies & guidelines for the Collaboration Platform in collaboration with service line owner and technology teams
  • Supports IT project start up though technical consultation (conceptual architecture’s), charter definition, benefit and analysis, requirements gathering and formal PMO approval.
  • Leads and advises the Infrastructure team through the Design and Engineering of Collaboration Solutions such as O365/M365, including but not limited t; Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Team, OneDrive and other integrated security and Azure related services.
  • Helps promote and communicate a clear and consistent vision/strategy throughout the organization – working with multiple stakeholders to achieve project success
  • Builds relationships that foster collaboration and partnerships to drive better strategies, priorities, and service to the customer
  • Mentors team members to enhance collaboration technology and operational delivery skills

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Computer Engineering or an equivalent technical degree
  • Microsoft certification in Office 365, Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of experience in system administration role for a large and/or complex multi-Business unit organization of 5,000 or more employees, with a focus on
    • Microsoft Office 365 and other enterprise collaboration tools
    • Managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting services and cloud infrastructure
  • 5+ years’ experience developing collaboration technology architectures and roadmaps for Global Enterprise environments

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • A thorough understanding of Microsoft's 365 capabilities available within the various licensing and subscription models available
  • Strong skills and experience with Collaboration and supporting technologies including; Identity and Access Management (IDAM),  Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD, Azure Security, Mobile device management, Data Loss and Information Rights Protection, Unified communications and Microsoft advances applications
  • Proven ability to think and operate proficiently within industry standard architecture frameworks
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to tailor communications styles and patterns depending on the audience
  • Team player with excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively present information to all levels of the organization
  • Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands
  • Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures while blending different goals and requirements for different groups

 

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience creating and maintaining Collaboration Reference Architectures and Roadmaps
  • Experience with ID Access Manager technologies like NetIQ, Okta etc. And user lifecycle concepts, provisioning, deprovisioning, entitlements
  • Experience communicating the differences of collaboration data and personal data and understanding requirements of each
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Mobile Device Management (MDM) concepts and tools
