Scope of Position: This is a stimulating and rewarding position that entails handling various DevOps and Collaboration Platform projects and activities for Corning RD&E organizations. The successful candidate will work on cross-organizational projects and collaborate with scientists and engineers to support their DevOps and Collaboration needs and provide operational support.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • SharePoint Farm administration and maintenance of RD&E SharePoint farms
  • SharePoint configuration, troubleshooting performance issues, tracking site usage metrics etc.
  • Lead Microsoft 365 PoCs/PoVs involving Power Platform, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Azure services, Teams, etc.
  • Provide technical leadership on DevOps, design/implement CI/CD pipelines, mentor others members of the team
  • Prompt resolution of customer complaints and user support requests
  • Support SharePoint development team in workflow development activities, training, operational support
  • Evangelize best practices and methodologies in DevOps and collaboration platforms
  • Interwork with SharePoint operations/engineering and DevOps teams in other Corning organizations
  • Prepare and present slide decks to senior management and subject matter experts alike on ongoing activities, projects, findings etc.
  • Keep abreast with Microsoft’s Office 365 roadmap and its potential impact to Corning’s collaboration strategy.

 

Travel Requirements: Limited travel and potential international travel.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or IT
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Microsoft Training and/or Certifications with Office 365 / SharePoint desired
  • DevOps training and/or certifications desired

 

Required Years and Area of Experience: 8+ years of relevant industry experience with at least 3 years of experience in SharePoint Farm Administration/Configuration, and 3 years of DevOps experience.  

 

Required Skills:

  • Must have prior experience in administering, developing and maintaining SharePoint 2013 and 2016 portal sites
  • Experience investigating and resolving SharePoint performance issues, such as front-end web server performance, indexing performance, and working with the Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques for SharePoint configuration and web part issues.
  • Knowledge and experience working with and establishing workflows within the SharePoint environment
  • Experience with Central administration, Site layout structure, content, maintenance of sites and sub-sites
  • Must possess knowledge of business workflows and have an in depth understanding of the capabilities of SharePoint, Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Designer / Visual Studio.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading and management the enterprise SharePoint server(s)/virtual machines and performing server maintenance (patching, hot fixes, etc.)
  • Solid understanding and experience in DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, GitLab etc.), automated testing, unit testing, etc.
  • Experience working with Agile Scrum framework/methodologies
  • Experience with scripting languages (ex: Python) to automate routine operational tasks
  • Familiarity with and industry experience in at least one of GitLab, Jira, Azure DevOps
  • Experience with containerization platforms (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Experience with M365 features like Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agent), SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Azure Services, Teams, Yammer, etc.
  • Must be a team player, resolve issues and working through complex concepts in consultation with other team members
  • Effective listening to develop detailed understanding of customer needs
  • Able to communicate to different audiences, including IT, engineering, laboratory and scientific organizations.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with using PowerShell, ASP.NET, JavaScript, Visual Studio, Cascading Style Sheets, HMTL and other Microsoft-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with working on relational databases, columnar databases and data warehouse platforms such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure
  • Experience using Data visualization, Reporting and BI platforms Tableau, SIS, Excel, etc.
  • Flexible with respect to travel to international sites
